Communities Invited to Drop-In and Learn More About Gwynt Glas Offshore Wind Farm

The team behind Gwynt Glas, a proposed innovative offshore wind farm in the Celtic Sea, is inviting local residents, businesses and community groups to a series of public consultation events this November. With the potential to generate up to 1.5 gigawatts of renewable energy, Gwynt Glas will support the UK's energy security ambitions while both helping position Wales at the forefront of next-generation offshore wind and attracting new green industries to the region. The informal, drop-in events will focus on the onshore works and give the local community an opportunity to meet the project team, find out more about the draft proposals and understand the consenting process. It is also a chance for communities to share their views and provide vital local feedback that will help shape the design and development of the project. The sessions will take place across three consecutive days: Llandyfaelog on Tuesday 17th November (11am–4pm, Llandyfaelog Community Hall, SA17 5YD); Pembrey on Wednesday 18th November (11am–4pm, Pembrey Memorial Community Centre, SA16 0AJ) and Kidwelly on Thursday 19th November (4pm–7pm, Princess Gwenllian Centre, SA17 4UL). Mark Hazelton, Gwynt Glas Project Director said, "We are at an important stage of designing the Gwynt Glas Project. We are committed to delivering our project with communities and local knowledge is vital to helping us get this right. We want to design a project that not only delivers clean, secure energy but also respects and supports the local environment and communities.   "Whether you want to ask questions about what is proposed, understand where the cables might go or share your thoughts on local environmental considerations, please come along. The team is looking forward to welcoming everyone." For those unable to attend the in person events, all information boards, project maps and feedback forms will be available on the project website from 16th November – 11th December at www.gwyntglas.com.
