Former San Francisco PD Sergeant Kills Wife, Daughter in Double Murder-Suicide, Sources Say
Authorities say a retired sergeant shot his estranged wife and their daughter before killing himself, and investigators have found no ongoing threat.
- On Sunday, the Marin County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation into a murder-suicide that left three people dead in a residence in Strawberry, an unincorporated community near Mill Valley, California.
- Sources identified the suspect as retired San Francisco Police Sergeant Kevin Mannix, 68, who allegedly killed his estranged wife, former SFPD Deputy Chief Ann Mannix, 65, and their 24-year-old daughter, Katie.
- Deputies responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired at 5:03 p.m. on Sunday, with a caller managing to escape before law enforcement secured the perimeter and entered the residence.
- Ann Mannix was remembered by the San Francisco Police Officers Association as a trailblazer who became the first woman to join and lead the department's SWAT team, rising to command Field Operations.
- Authorities confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public, while spokesperson Miguel Almaguer noted the active investigation and referred those in need to the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
