Bengals Embrace an Early Bye After a Win in Miami
Miami’s offense showed progress, but mistakes and quarterback play kept the team winless before a week off.
On Sunday, the Miami Dolphins fell to 0-5 after a 31-24 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals at Hard Rock Stadium. The defeat leaves the winless team at the bottom of the standings entering their bye week.
Coach Jeff Hafley's club features an historically bad offense, ranking 160th out of 160 in offensive success rate through five weeks. The team averaged just 11.5 points per game entering Sunday's matchup.
Quarterback Malik Willis completed 15 of 27 passes for 137 yards while Miami achieved season-highs with 217 rushing yards. Willis threw two interceptions, undercutting the ground game's success during the loss.
Players and coaches view the upcoming bye week as a crucial opportunity to reset after the difficult three-game stretch. Hafley stated the time will be used to "evaluate the players" and "evaluate the scheme."
The Dolphins return from their week off to face the New York Jets on October 25 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This divisional matchup represents the team's next opportunity to break their winless streak.
