Indian Professional Boxer Neeraj Goyat to Take on Former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis in January Next Year | Sports-Games
The event will feature a six-round, 154-pound main event and an undercard of Indian fighters, organisers said.
- On Wednesday, organizers announced Indian boxing star Neeraj Goyat will face former UFC lightweight world champion Anthony "Showtime" Pettis on January 23, 2027, in a bout titled "Goyat vs Pettis: The Indian Uprising."
- Signing with Most Valuable Promotions in 2024, Neeraj became the first international fighter to join the promotion and now aims to headline a historic event in front of his home crowd.
- Former UFC champion Anthony Pettis carries a 25-14 MMA record with 11 knockouts and is a co-promoter of the Indian Pro Boxing League. The Milwaukee native turns 40 days after the bout.
- Actor and producer Rana Daggubati, co-founder of IPBL Boxing, said the event could become "that night for boxing" in India. Pettis's younger brother, Sergio Pettis, lost a unanimous decision in Hyderabad in March 2025, adding personal stakes.
- Sanctioned by the Indian Boxing Council, the event will be hosted in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, or Chennai, with the final city and venue to be announced in November.
