Panthers Place Aleksander Barkov on Long-Term Injured Reserve with Injury to Left Leg
The Panthers said Barkov will miss at least 10 games while evaluations continue after the captain injured his left leg.
- On Saturday, the Florida Panthers placed captain Aleksander Barkov on long-term injured reserve after he sustained a left leg injury, sidelining the center for at least 10 games.
- Barkov suffered the injury midway through the second period of Thursday's 4-3 overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks, falling awkwardly after contact with Darnell Nurse.
- The captain previously missed the entire 2025-26 season due to torn ligaments in his right knee, having been instrumental in Florida's Stanley Cup championship runs in 2024 and 2025.
- Sources told ESPN's Emily Kaplan the Panthers remain optimistic the injury is not season-ending, though the team has not revealed specific details as evaluation continues.
- Florida plays Sunday at the Anaheim Ducks, with Barkov having gone scoreless in his first two appearances this season before the injury sidelined him.
