Hamilton says Vance’s attacks on his religion are ‘really sad,’ ‘pathetic’
Hamilton said Vance falsely portrayed his Christianity as Republicans work to defend a Senate seat they have held since 1919.
- On Sunday, Democratic Kansas Senate candidate Adam Hamilton accused Vice President JD Vance of attacking his faith and spreading falsehoods during an interview on ABC's This Week.
- During a September 14 campaign stop in Olathe, Vance claimed Hamilton believes 'it's a sin to be white and a sin to raise cattle and eat meat,' prompting the recent exchange.
- Refuting the accusations, Hamilton stated, 'Every single line of what you just read was a lie,' clarifying his sermon addressed the Christian concept of repentance regarding racism.
- The heated rhetoric reflects growing Republican concerns about a race recent polling suggests is effectively tied, despite Republicans holding the Senate seat for more than a century.
- As Democrats seek a four-seat net gain to retake the Senate, Hamilton positions himself as an independent-minded candidate, suggesting Vice President Kamala Harris keep her distance from the race.
