- On Wednesday, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced Thailand is at "the last paragraph" of a trade agreement with the United States, expecting to sign the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade during President Donald Trump's November visit to Asia.

- Accounting for 24 per cent of total exports, the United States is Thailand's largest export market; officials are working to resolve trade tensions including a 12.5 per cent tariff imposed in July.
- Both the 49th Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit in the Philippines and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting in Shenzhen are expected venues for the November signing.
- To assure investors it is a "reliable place" for capital, Thailand is seeking membership in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development as part of broader economic restructuring efforts.
