'We're Blessed': California Couple Marks Victoria's Millionth Cruise Passenger
The harbour authority expects 332 cruise ship calls this season, with new cruise lines and inaugural visits helping drive the record.
On Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, Victoria reached a tourism milestone as Geri Skardina disembarked the Norwegian Encore at the Breakwater District, becoming the city's one-millionth cruise passenger of the season.
This historic achievement caps a record-breaking 2026 season, which the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority anticipates will conclude with 332 ship calls, surpassing the previous record of 329 set in 2022.
Upon arrival, Skardina and her husband, Gary, received a local gift basket and VIP tour from officials including Victoria Mayor Marianne Alto and Destination Greater Victoria CEO Paul Nursey.
Norwegian Cruise Line president Marc Kazlauskas noted the milestone reflects Victoria's appeal as a destination, while GVHA CEO Jeremy Dunn emphasized how cruise visits encourage return trips.
The record-setting season is scheduled to conclude Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026, with the final arrival of the National Geographic Venture, marking the completion of the city's busiest cruise year.
