White House New Press Secretary to Assume Her Post on Monday
Popular Information said she promoted Pizzagate, QAnon-related claims and other false theories in nearly 2,700 Truth Social posts.
- On Monday, President Donald Trump's newly appointed White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia officially assumed her position, with her first news conference scheduled for Tuesday at 9:30 A.M.
- Trump praised Zacharia as a 'loyal and brilliant supporter' with an 'unblemished record of support'; previously a senior communications advisor at Trump Media and Technology Group, she succeeds Karoline Leavitt, who resigned in August.
- Investigations by Popular Information and The Bulwark identified Truth Social posts where Zacharia promoted debunked conspiracy theories including Pizzagate and QAnon, and shared false claims about COVID-19 vaccines.
- When asked about the posts, the White House Press Office directed inquiries to Trump's initial appointment announcement and did not provide a substantive response addressing the individual examples.
- Zacharia assumes the role just three weeks before the November 3 midterm elections, positioning her as a key defender of the president amid his efforts to communicate with the American People.
